Today’s Update - Redesign for Suggestions Edit Page

Dear iQers,

With today’s update we will put a completely refurbished suggestion configuration online, which I would like to introduce to you. The usability of our old configuration page was rather bad: The constant addition of new tags made it necessary to maintain the configuration manually each few days by clicking through long lists of new topics.

Since we believe that the suggestions are an essential functionality of Lycos iQ, we wanted to overcome these problems to show all iQers, how useful it can be: It can identify a real expert for each important question, so more questions can be answered. For those, who are interested in certain topics, it will be much easier to follow new contents with the tag based suggestions. The new configuration page allows to put in tags for the suggestions directly – so you don’t have to wait for a question, which is tagged in your topics.

In addition to that, the configuration of automatically added tags will be much easier, by moving a big slider. The biggest advantage is that you directly see, which tags remain for the suggestions. And it has the second consequence that the amount of points you have to collect in a certain tag is higher, before you will get suggestions automatically. By this we reduced the steady grow of tags you will receive suggestions for.

To support the features above we also put in an e-mail feed you can receive for your suggestions: Either for all tags or only those you put in manually.

Take a look and configure your suggestions: http://iq.lycos.co.uk/prof/sugg/

We hope that this feature makes the use of the suggestions more convenient than before and we also hope that it will be used more and more in the future – but we are also glad to get feedback, how to further improve it.

Your Lycos iQ-Team

hey guys, i’ve found that even if you de-select the box for suggesting members, it still comes up with a whole heap of them. i’ve had to click on “don’t suggest” for each and every one. just thought you should know, and i’m putting it here rather than in a direct email so that others can see it too :)

    Hi beeper,

Are these suggested members “old” ones, that you got before the changes took place or do you still receive suggested members?

    Best regards,
    Nadine
