Lycos iQ Redesign
Dear iQers,
as you will recognize, there were some changes to the navigation and design of Lycos iQ. In this update we present you, what we learned from our community, a web usability agency and our own new product developments. In Lycos iQ we had collected a multitude of different button styles, text styles, link style, navigation elements - and we tried to bind all this together more tightly.
But - again - this is subject to your feedback. We need to learn, what we could do better, apart from the things we changed for now. The only feature, which we really decided to drop was the direct question - it did not seem appropriate any longer and rather confusing for newbies. When we started iQ we did not have a suitable way to communicate with each other, but now the message system works quite fine.
We hope that you like the changes we introduce - but we are also interested to learn, what could be done better than now. So have fun with the refurbished iQ and let us know, what you think.
Thank you very much,
Your Lycos iQ Team

Said this at 1:13pm:Nice to know that some of our comments have been incorporated into the re-design, specifically the DQ issue which has been highlighted as largely defunct a couple of times.
One more suggestion for change is that the “Transfer credits” button on other user profiles could be changed to “Send message”, as I suspect that there are far more instances of credit-free messages than ones with credits attached.
I also miss seeing the first line of the last answer on each question - I’d often look at that to see if if it was worth adding an answer or not.
Other than that, and the little glitches that we all keep pointing out, I don’t think it is a bad redesign - will just take some getting used to, I guess.

Said this at 4:10pm:seconding duffy’s point about the first lines of an answer being visible on the front page - this is a useful tool for the moderators too, and gives newcomers an ides as to what the humour of the site is all about. i would fervently suggest bringing it back.
